Eldon Herr, 85, of Curwensville died Friday, Dec. 12, 2014 at Ridgeview Elder Care after a short illness.
Born Oct. 21, 1929, he was the son of Samuel B. and Inez (Dale) Herr.
He had been employed at Dotts Motor Company, where he was the service department manager and retired after 47 years of service.
He was a member of the Curwensville Lions Club, where he was in charge of the annual birthday calendar for numerous years. He was also a member of Elks B.P.O.E. Lodge No. 540 in Clearfield.
He was a member of the St. Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville. He served on the finance committee at the church along with in other areas.
On Sept. 20, 1952 at St. Timothy’s Church in Curwensville, he wed Mary Lee Miller, who survives him of Curwensville.
He is also survived by two nieces whom he raised from a young age and considered daughters, Lisa Gasper and her husband, George of Curwensville and Amy Hollback of New Jersey; three great-nieces and nephews whom he considered grandchildren, Mason, Hayden and Marlee Gasper, all of Curwensville; and a sister, Eva Morris of Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, David Herr; and three sisters, Ann Lindeman, Sarah Brytz and Lois Evans.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville with Father Mark J. Mastrian as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park in Hyde.
At the request of the family, there will be no public viewing.
