State police at Clearfield
- An accident occurred Friday on Ball Hollow Road in Beccaria Township. Dalton J. Sacolic of Coalport lost control of his vehicle on the icy roadway. His vehicle struck a tree along the roadway and caught on fire. Sacolic and his three passengers were wearing their seatbelts; they were able to free themselves from the vehicle. Sacolic was cited for the accident. State police were assisted by the Glendale and Madera fire departments, Madera Emergency Medical Services and Irvona Ambulance.
- An incident of theft by unlawful taking occurred Dec. 9 on Spring Street in Houtzdale. During the incident, someone allegedly entered the victim’s property and removed copper wiring from a barn adjacent to his residence. - An accident occurred Thursday on Crooked Sewer Road in Boggs Township. A Mack truck driven by Dennis C. Luzier of West Decatur crossed the centerline and caused a vehicle operated by Jennifer L. Sproull of Clearfield to exit the roadway and strike a guiderail. All occupants of the vehicles were wearing their seatbelts and no injuries were reported, state police said. The Sproull vehicle sustained minor damage; Luzier was cited for the accident.
State police at DuBois
- An accident occurred Friday on Rattlesnake Road in Snyder Township. Russell W. Carr of St. Marys was traveling westbound when he lost control of his vehicle while negotiating a left-hand curve due to excessive speed and slushy roadway conditions. His vehicle traveled across the eastbound lane, where it struck the guiderails. Upon impact his vehicle traveled over the guiderails and overturned onto its left side. Carr was cited for the accident.
- An accident occurred Saturday on South Pancoast Road in Winslow Township. Further, a 23-year-old Falls Creek man lost control of his vehicle, which exited the roadway and overturned. While speaking with the man, state police detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. He was subsequently arrested for DUI pending blood test results. The man is also facing charges for being in possession of a small amount of marijuana and committing traffic violations.
- An accident occurred Dec. 10 on Home Camp Road in Union Township. Cory B. Long of DuBois lost control of his vehicle on the snow-covered roadway and struck a tree. His passenger was transported for treatment of injuries sustained in the accident. State police were assisted by the Union Township Fire Department.
- A firearm was found Saturday on Bark Camp Road in Huston Township. Further, a hunter located a rifle in a wooded location next to a white-tailed deer gut pile.
- A hit-and-run accident occurred Saturday on Walnut Street in Troutville Borough. Further, a vehicle was reportedly traveling north when it exited its lane, crossed a small ditch on the shoulder and impacted a shrub. Upon impact the vehicle re-entered the roadway and fled the scene.
State police at Philipsburg
- An incident of retail theft occurred Dec. 10 at the Dollar General Store in Philipsburg Borough. During the incident, a female allegedly removed three Monster energy drinks and two bags of beef jerky. She was described as a Caucasian female in her early 20’s. She was wearing an orange coat with a light green, hooded sweatshirt underneath, blue jeans and white sneakers. - An incident of theft occurred Thursday at the Weis Store in Philipsburg Borough. Further, the victim told state police that after leaving the store, she realized she’d dropped U.S. Currency while paying for her items. She said that the individuals who were in line behind her took the money and left. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the state police at Philipsburg at 814-342-3370.
- An incident of retail theft occurred Sunday at the Dollar General Store in Philipsburg Borough. During the incident, someone allegedly attempted to take three DVDs, headphones and a pack of stickers.
- An incident of access device fraud occurred Dec. 8 on Walnut Street in Rush Township. During the incident, someone allegedly used the victim’s check card in the United Kingdom.
- An accident occurred Friday on the Port Matilda Highway in Rush Township. Roxanne Shaw of Philipsburg was traveling near East Mountain Road when her vehicle exited the roadway and impacted an embankment. The Shaw vehicle sustained disabling damage; no injuries were reported, state police said.
- An incident of theft by unlawful taking/simple assault occurred Sunday on North Front Street in Philipsburg Borough. During the incident, an employee was allegedly observed taking items from a store, which resulted in a confrontation. The incident remains under investigation at this time, state police said.
Clearfield Borough
- Police received a report about an accident in the area of South Front and East Market streets. Further, a snow plow drifted to the right, striking a vehicle and causing minor damage. No injuries were reported and both vehicles were driven from the scene, police said.
- Police received a report about a vehicle being damaged while in a parking lot off of Turnpike Avenue.
- Police received a report about an alleged incident of harassment that occurred along Leavy Avenue.
- Police checked on a suspicious vehicle along West Front Street. Further, police found the operator was having mechanical problems with his vehicle.
- Police received a report about a female who was threatening to harm herself on East Pine Street. Upon arrival police stayed with the female until emergency personal transported her for treatment.
- Police arrested a male for public intoxication after he was allegedly observed lying on the sidewalk along South Third Street. The male was transported to the Clearfield County Jail.
- Police are investigating a report about an alleged protection from abuse order violation.
- Police assisted emergency personnel with a male who was having a psychological emergency and in need of treatment on Leavy Avenue.
- Police handled a parking complaint along South Fourth Street.
Lawrence Township
- Police were requested to check the welfare of a resident on Mount Joy Road.
- Police received a report about juveniles who were throwing snowballs in the area of Park Avenue Extension and Route 879. Upon arrival police returned the juveniles to their parents.
- Police received a report about a disabled vehicle along Route 879.
- Police received a report about an alleged domestic dispute on Joseph Road. Charges are currently pending at this time, police said.
- Police received a traffic complaint that occurred on River Road. However, police were unable to locate the vehicle.
- Police received a report about an injured deer along River Road. Upon arrival police were unable to locate the deer.
- Police assisted with a patient in cardiac arrest in the Hyde area.
- Police received a report about a possible missing person in the Good Street area. It was noted that family members located the person shortly after.
- Police received a report about a residential burglary alarm in the area of Fork Run Road. However, police were cancelled while en route to the scene.
- Police received a report about a hit-and-run accident in which an unknown vehicle struck a telephone pole on McGeorge Road. The operator then fled the scene.
- Police received a report about a tree down on the Old Erie Pike. Further, police provided traffic control until fire personnel arrived at the scene.
- Police received a report about a disabled vehicle on Route 879.
- Police received a report about a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Fullerton Street. Both vehicles were towed from the scene and injured persons were transported to Penn Highlands Clearfield for treatment.
- Police received a report about an alleged incident of criminal trespass that occurred on Palmer Street. Further, police found the suspect was having a psychological emergency.
- Police received a report about an alleged incident of harassment by communications in the area of Chester Street.
- Police received a report about an alleged incident of burglary that occurred in Glen Richey. Further, it was noted by police that two firearms were stolen during the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
Sandy Township
- On Friday, a vehicle driven by a 53-year-old Force man pulled out of the Sandy Plaza parking lot and into the path of a vehicle driven by a 62-year-old St. Mary’s man, causing a collision. No injuries and minor damage were reported, police said.
- On Friday, police received a report about a man who was possibly breaking into a vehicle in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Upon arrival police located a 76-year-old Reynoldsville man who explained that he’d entered a vehicle that he thought was his own. When he realized it was not his vehicle, he quickly exited it.
- On Friday, a Showers Road resident reported two men pulled into his driveway and came to his door asking if he was interested in burning firewood. When he declined, the men left, police said.
- A vehicle driven by a 30-year-old Treasure Lake man was traveling through the Wal-Mart parking lot on Friday when it hit a 40-year-old DuBois woman who was walking to her vehicle. The woman was pinned under the wheel of the vehicle and then transported to Penn Highlands for treatment, police said. It was also noted by police that the man was cited for reckless and careless driving.
- On Friday, a Wal-Mart loss prevention official reported she’d witnessed a female take merchandise into the restroom and then come out leaving the empty packages in a stall. The woman’s registration was obtained from surveillance video, police said, adding that the incident remains under investigation at this time.
- A cooler fell from the back of a truck driven by a 50-year-old Treasure Lake man, hitting and causing damage to a vehicle driven by a 37-year-old Penfield woman while they were traveling Friday on the Bee Line Highway. No injuries and moderate damage were reported, police said.
- A 19-year-old Reynoldsville woman reported that when she pulled into work at Ponderosa on Saturday, her estranged boyfriend, a 24-year-old DuBois man, pulled in and hit her vehicle with his car door. She was able to go into the restaurant, at which time the man rammed her vehicle, causing more damage and then fleeing the scene. The incident remains under investigation at this time, police said.
- On Saturday, police were requested to check the welfare of a 36-year-old man who had called his brother and alluded to wanting to harm himself. Police were eventually able to contact the man and who stated he was OK.
- A 47-year-old Time to Bid Road woman reported that when she returned home on Saturday, she found the front door of her trailer kicked in. Nothing appeared to be taken from the residence, police said.
- A 51-year-old Johnsonburg man reported that while pulling out of parking spaces at Wal-Mart on Sunday, he and another vehicle ran into each other. The other vehicle left without stopping at the scene; no damage was reported, police said.
- A 61-year-old man reported that while his utility-terrain vehicle was parked along Hungry Hollow Road on Sunday, someone took a gun off of it. The incident remains under investigation at this time, police said.
