HUNTINGDON — Will Myers poured in 23 points to front a four-pronged attack that carried the hot-shooting Clearfield Area High School boys basketball team to a 73-64 Mountain League win over nemesis Huntingdon Friday night.
Cody Spaid contributed 15 points and also had double-digit rebounds, Eric Sellers hit for 13 points and just missed a double-double and Tommy Hazel chipped in with 12 points as the Bison retained a share of the league lead at 2-0.
The last time Clearfield posted back-to-back victories was late January in 2012.
In handing the Bearcats their first loss in three outings, the Bison shot 46.5 percent from the floor and 77.8 percent at the foul line with 14 free throws. Seven of their 26 field goals came from long range, four by Myers, two by Hazel and one by Sellers.
Huntingdon was led by Nate Gearhart with 22 points and Kobren Frederick with 16.
Clearfield utilized good balance on offense to outscore the hosts in each of the first three periods for a 55-39 bulge.
The Bison begin a three-game week with a trip to Curwensville for a non-league scrap Monday.
Clearfield’s junior varsity also was victorious, with Caleb Strouse and Carter Wood scoring 14 points apiece in the 45-44 squeaker.
