Jerry E. English Sr., 62, of Munson died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014 at his residence. Born June 17, 1952 in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late Allen F. and Verneda Butterworth English.
Mr. English was affiliated with the Christian faith. He was a retired veteran who had served in the U.S. Army from 1972-76 during the Vietnam era. Mr. English was a member of the American Legion, Clearfield, and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Curwensville.
He was married to Stephanie Burgess English on Aug. 14, 1999 at Son Rise Fellowship, Houtzdale. She survives in Munson.
He’s survived by five daughters, Leslie and Jeff Serena of Woodland, Brandi DeMoss and her fiancé, Matthew Kennedy of Hyde, Becky Quick and her fiancé, Matt Hazel of Allport and Misti Quick and Destiny Nearhood, both of Munson.
Mr. English is survived by nine sons, Gary English of Woodland; Jerry E. English Jr. and his companion, Nikki Dixon of Philipsburg; Thomas and Cindy English of Lock Haven; Michael and Crystal English of Osceola Mills; Larry English and his fiancée, Alyssa Stiner and Adam DeMoss and his fiancée, Megan Frantz, both of Curwensville; Charles and Jessica English of Hermitage; Dennis DeMoss of Munson and Kevin Shoffner and his fiancée, Christy Frizzell of Kylertown; and a grandson, Milachi Dotts of Munson.
He’s also survived by a sister, Joyce and Ray Lafountain of Florida; his brothers, Gary and Becky English of Nebraska and Ronald and Sonya English of Philipsburg; a brother-in-law, William Foster of Philipsburg; and a sister-in-law, Jean English of Nebraska; 25 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. English was preceded in death by a son, Merrill Nearhood, a sister, Judith Foster and a brother, Allen English.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Strange & Weaver Funeral Home, Morrisdale, with James G. Walk officiating. A luncheon will be served at the Centre Hill Grange following the service.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Thursday and from 11 a.m. until the hour of services Friday at the funeral home.
Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.
