CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Area United Way Chief Professional Officer Nancy Pinto recently delivered approximately 100 books to Graeme and Dan Bogey of the Curwensville Library as part of the Reading Ripples Project for #Giving Tuesday.
#Giving Tuesday occurs the day after Cyber Monday and focuses on giving to charitable causes. “We have a day for giving thanks. We have two days for getting deals. Now, we have #Giving Tuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back,” said Pinto.
The library is one of the United Way’s 24 local member agencies. Gently used books are collected for “Reading Ripples” for distribution, said Pinto. She added that the United Way’s Campaign is under way and helps so many other important agencies, which in turn, touch lives from infants to the elderly throughout eastern, southern and central Clearfield County.
“We are at 82 percent and need the public’s help,” said Mark Schultz, campaign chairman. Donations, which are tax deductible, can be made to the CAUW, 18 N. Second St., P.O. Box 1430, Clearfield, PA 16830. Additional information about the campaign is available by calling the CAUW at 814-765-6521.
“We have another 100 children’s book available currently if we get a call. We would be glad to deliver them to children’s groups that love to read,” Pinto said.
