WILLIAMSPORT — The Clearfield Bison wrestling team placed 10th out of 19 teams at the season opening Top Hat Tournament with 58 points, while Bison junior Travis Ogden claimed a tourney crown.
The number two seed at 195, Ogden went 4-0, including a 4-2 overtime win over Line Mountain’s Brendan Renn in the championship finals to earn his Top Hat gold medal.
Other medal winners were Noah Cline, who went 3-2 to place fifth at 138; 152 pounder Luke McGonigal, who had to injury default his final two matches to finish 3-3 and place sixth; 170 pounder Levi Wisor, who also went 3-3 to finish sixth; Matt Ryan, who went 2-3 to place eighth at 106; and Tallin Norris, who also went 2-3 to place eighth at 145.
Thayne Morgan finished 1-2 at 120, Hunter Bumbarger went 1-2 at 182, Brian Thorpe went 1-2 at 220, and Nate Lash went 1-2 at 285 to round out the Bison that made it to the second day of tournament action.
The Bison will hit the resilite again on Tuesday night when they kick off their dual meet season at the Arthur Weiss Gymnasiom when they host District 9 rival DuBois.
