TYRONE – Free Kidney Smart classes will now be offered on the Tyrone Regional Health Network campus.
A class will be held Dec. 11 from 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. in the large conference room at Tyrone Hospital.
One in 10 adults who are age 20 years and over has kidney disease and the number of people with kidney disease is growing. People with diabetes and high blood pressure are among those who are at greater risk of developing kidney disease.
The Kidney Smart class provides health education on chronic kidney disease. Those who attend will learn how the kidneys function, the causes and effects of chronic kidney disease, how medications, diet and nutrition work together to help manage and prevent kidney disease, how to manage other related health conditions, including diabetes and high blood pressure, treatment options for kidney disease and how to continue educating yourself.
The Kidney Smart class will be offered periodically throughout the year on the Tyrone Regional Health Network campus.
Those interested in attending the Dec. 11 Kidney Smart class can register online at KidneySmart.org/class or by calling 1-888-MYKIDNEY.
