Michele A. Novotny, 51, of Philipsburg died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 at her home.
Born July 8, 1963 in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of Maria L. (Santa Barbara) Hughes of College Park, Md. and the late Michael Hughes. Her companion, Jeff Cowher, survives at home.
She was of the Catholic faith. She worked as a food service worker for Polliwag Pond Child Care in Marquette, Mich. She was a 1981 graduate of the Bald Eagle High School.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Eileen Hughes-Bigger.
Along with her mother and companion, she is survived by two daughters, Colette Rubio and her husband, Mike of Kokomo, Ind. and Renee Novotny of Big Bay, Mich.; two sisters, Maria Larsen and her husband, Brian of Salem, NC and Diane Burns and her husband, Scott of Big Bay, Mich.; two brothers, Kevin Hughes and his wife, Rita of Olympia, Wash. and Sean Hughes and his wife, Kim of Bethesda, Md.; and six grandchildren, Alexander, Hugh, Abby, Blake, Mike and Cayden.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at the Big Bay Cemetery in Big Bay, Mich.
