ST. MARYS – The Elk County Democratic Committee will hold its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 3 Washington St., in St. Marys.
This will be the last meeting for the current-year. The committee would like to request the attendance of anyone who is interested in running for a Democratic municipal or county position in the 2015 May primary.
All townships in Elk County have at least one supervisor and one auditor position on the ballot in May. Others may have tax collector, constable or additional auditor positions up for election, as well as to fill any vacancies.
Both boroughs – Ridgway and Johnsonburg – and the City of St. Marys have council positions on the ballot. At the county level, all elected positions, with the exception of district attorney and judge, are up in 2015.
Information on petition filing requirements, fees and other requirements to run for office will be discussed at the meeting.
Prospective candidates, if they wish, will have an opportunity to address the attendees. The committee will also discuss plans for 2015.
Meetings are open to all registered Democrats and the committee encourages everyone to participate in this meeting. Persons do not need to be a precinct chair to attend.
