CLEARFIELD – A 71-year-old Osceola Mills woman who was convicted of criminal attempt/murder of the first degree for shooting her home care nurse in the head was sentenced Tuesday in Clearfield County Court.
Marlene Kenjora, 71, of Osceola Mills will serve a minimum of 12 years to a maximum of 24 years in state prison for shooting her home care nurse in the head on Dec. 6, 2012, according to GantDaily.com news partner WJAC-TV.
Neither Kenjora’s age nor her mental health influenced the sentencing. “It’s a sentence that anyone else would have received under similar circumstances,” stated District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr, adding, “Yes, it’s fair.”
Kenjora, Shaw stated, will serve 12 years before becoming parole-eligible. At that time, he stated that the parole board will decide if she will be paroled on her minimum or retained in custody.
The victim, Kenjora’s former nurse, was in court for sentencing Tuesday. “I think it will give her closure,” stated Shaw. “But I think she’ll have life-long issues as a consequence. I mean, she was shot in the head.”
Kenjora will remain housed at the Clearfield County Jail until she is transferred to a state correctional facility.
