Barbara Twist Johnson, 77, of Summerville, SC and formerly of Philipsburg, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014 at her home in Summerville.
Born Sept. 13, 1937 in Philipsburg, she was a daughter of the late Aaron and Kathryn (Rafferty) Twist.
She was a 1956 graduate of the Philipsburg-Osceola High School and a telephone operator for 33 years.
She was a member of the St. George’s Episcopal Church, Delaware; St. George’s Episcopal Church, South Carolina and of the former St. Savior’s Episcopal Church, Philipsburg. She loved to travel and enjoyed people.
On Oct. 21, 1961 in Gearhartville, she married Ronald E. Johnson, who survives at home.
In addition to her husband, she’s survived by two sons, Keith Johnson of California and Korey Johnson and his wife, Kristi of South Carolina; two grandsons, Gabe and Lucas; a brother, William Twist and his wife, Diane of Chester Hill; a sister, Virginia Vaughn of Tyrone; a brother-in-law, Merle Butterworth of Chester Hill; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant daughters; an infant brother, Nicholas Aaron; an infant sister, Vivian Mame; a brother, Walter Roy Twist; and two sisters, Kathryn Fisher and Naomi Mitchell Butterworth.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Philipsburg, with Father William R. Walker officiating.
Burial will be in the Philipsburg Cemetery.
