CHEYNEY — Junior running back Beau Swales (Clearfield) enjoyed his first 100-yard rushing performance as Lock Haven racked up a season-high 173 yards on the ground while snapping a nine-game losing streak with a 28-0 victory over Cheyney in front of 3,281 fans at O’Shields-Stevenson Stadium Saturday.
Swales, whose previous high was 78 yards at West Virginia State in the season opener, set career records with 24 carries for 116 yards and added nine yards on two pass receptions.
The shutout was the first in 12 seasons for the Bald Eagles.
Swales has accounted for 55 percent of the Lock Haven rushing yards with 401 on 120 totes.
He also has gained 152 yards on 22 catches and 209 yards on 10 kickoff returns for a team-leading 762 all-purpose yards.
He has scored a pair of touchdowns.

GREENSBURG — Junior longsnapper Eric White (Clearfield) and the Clarion punt unit were busy in a 30-16 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division loss to host Seton Hill in front of 750 fans at Offutt Field Saturday.
White has one tackle for the Golden Eagles, now 2-5, including 2-4 in the PSAC-West.

CALIFORNIA — Graduate student wide receiver Trey Campman (Clearfield) saw action as Indiana University of Pennsylvania fell 21-13 to No. 25-ranked California with first place in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division on the line.
A crowd of 3,362 was on hand at Adamson Stadium for the sixth annual Coal Bowl as the rivals matched records of 5-1, including 4-1 starts in the PSAC-West.
Campman has appeared in every game for the Crimson Hawks with one solo tackle.

MEN’S GOLF
WEST MIDDLESEX — Freshman Brett Gardner (Curwensville) posted rounds of 85 and 80 at the par-71 Oak Tree Country Club to help Pitt-Bradford finished third in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships Oct. 12 and 13.
His 165 was third for the Panthers and tied for 14th overall among the 45 players from nine teams.
Pitt-Bradford totaled 661 to place behind four-time champion Penn State Behrend (605) and Penn State Altoona (645).
Gardner averaged 86.2 for 10 rounds in his rookie season with the Panthers.

WOMEN’S SOCCER
BLOOMSBURG — Graduate student Brooke Mohney (Bigler/Clearfield Area H.S.) started at forward in Bloomsburg’s 3-1 upset of No. 24-ranked Slippery Rock Friday and was a reserve in a 2-1 loss to California Saturday.
Splitting the road games left the Huskies with a 5-7-1 record in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. They won their lone non-conference outing.
Mohney, who has started 12 games at forward, is tied for second on the team with two goals and tied for fourth in points with four. Seven of her 11 shots have been on goal.

CLARION — Freshman Carlee Freeburg (Clearfield) played in a reserve role for Clarion in a 4-0 loss to Kutztown at Memorial Stadium on Oct. 14.
The Golden Eagles are 3-9-1, all games in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.
Freeburg has made 12 appearances with five shots, including one on goal.

ERIE — Freshman midfielder McKenna Aleksivich (Clearfield) and freshman defender Katie Powers (Clearfield) saw action as Penn State Behrend upped its record to 11-4-1 with wins over Medaille 3-0 on Oct. 14 and Pitt-Greensburg 4-0 Friday at Behrend Field.
The Lions improved to 5-2 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.
Aleksivich has played in 15 games, two as a starter, with one shot on goal while Powers has played in seven games.

WOMEN’S SWIMMING
GENEVA, Ohio — Freshman Kara Thorp (Clearfield) made her debut for Edinboro by swimming in three individual events and two relays at the Spire Open in the Spire Institute Pool Saturday.
Her best finish was 11th in the 200 freestyle race with a time of 2:08.17.
She placed 17th in the 50 free in 27.24 seconds and 19th in the 100 free in 59.38.
In the relays, Thorp turned in a 25.76 third leg for the Fighting Scots’ ‘B’ 200 free foursome that claimed fourth place with a 1:43.77 time and anchored the ‘C’ medley quartet in an eight-place finish. Her 27.09 split stopped the clock at 2:03.49.
