STATE COLLEGE – Night-time work will take place this week on Route 322 eastbound in the State College area from the Interstate 99 on-ramp for Route 322 eastbound to College Avenue (Route 26). Work hours will be 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., starting Monday night and running through Thursday night.
Crews will be performing concrete patching along this College Township section of Route 322 and the travel lane (right) will be closed. Patching will also take place on the College Avenue off-ramp, but access to the off-ramp will be maintained using the shoulder area. Pennsylvania State Police will be on site to help with traffic flow through the construction zone and drivers will be alerted to the night-time work with advanced signing.
No work will take place Friday night so that traffic can flow more smoothly for the Penn State home football game.
Crews will continue patching work the week of Oct. 27, with a return to the long-term eastbound closure pf the passing lane from the I-99 on-ramp to Boalsburg. Crews will also be performing patching on all other ramps during daylight hours. A reduced speed limit of 45 miles per hour is in place during construction.
Through mid-summer of 2015, overall work will include patching, base repair, paving, bridge and deck repairs, and miscellaneous items. Repairs will improve the ride quality of the roadway surface and allow the structures to remain in service for years to come. The project was made possible by Act 89, the state’s new transportation plan.
Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $5.1 million project. All work is weather and schedule dependent. Drivers should proceed with caution and be prepared for construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway.
