LOCK HAVEN — Junior running back Beau Swales (Clearfield) scored his first rushing touchdown of the season for Lock Haven Saturday, but Shippensburg kept the Bald Eagles out of the win column with a 42-24 victory with 1,150 fans on hand in Hubert Jack Stadium.
His two-yard plunge late in the first half capped an 18-play, 76-yard drive which Swales kept alive with a 10-yard pass reception on third-and-nine at Ship’s 47.
He was held to 24 yards for 13 carries while adding 23 yards on four receptions as the Bald Eagles tumbled to 0-6, with five of the losses counting in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division.
Swales, who has started every game, has rushed 96 times for 285 yards, caught 20 passes for 143 yards and one touchdown and returned 10 kickoffs for 209 yards.

CLARION — Junior longsnapper Eric White (Clearfield) was limited to four plays for Clarion Saturday evening when winless Edinboro handed the Golden Eagles a 56-28 setback to disappoint most of the 2,837 fans in Memorial Stadium.
The Golden Eagles slipped to 2-3 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and 2-4 overall.
White has recorded one solo tackle this season.

INDIANA — Wide receiver Trey Campman (Clearfield) saw action as Indiana University of Pennsylvania celebrated Homecoming with a 51-28 romp over Seton Hill in front of 3,545 fans at Miller Stadium Saturday afternoon.
The Crimson Hawks (5-1) are tied for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division lead with Slippery Rock and California at 4-1.
Campman, a graduate student, has one solo tackle on special teams.

MEN’S GOLF
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Freshman Brett Gardner (Curwensville) matched his season low with an 83 at the Orchard Park Country Club on Monday, Oct. 6, to share Pitt-Bradford medalist honors with Zach Spicher in the Hilbert Invitational.
Gardner tied for 13th place overall among the 40 players.
The Panthers finished fourth in the eight-team field with a 340 total.

PENN HILLS — Freshman Jason Thorp (Curwensville) carded a 42-46-88 for Thiel in the Carnegie Mellon Fall Invitational at the Long Vue Country Club on Wednesday, Oct. 8.
He placed 21st with the third-best score for the Tomcats, whose 342 was last among the five teams.

WOMEN’S SOCCER
BLOOMSBURG — Graduate student Brooke Mohney (Bigler/Clearfield Area H.S.) started at forward for Bloomsburg in a 2-1 double-overtime loss to visiting Edinboro on Wednesday, Oct. 8, and a 1-0 victory at Mansfield Saturday night.
She was credited with one shot on goal against Mansfield.
The split gave the Huskies a 5-6-1 record. They are a 4-6-1 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.
Mohney, has 11 starts, is second on the team in goals with two and tied for second in points with four. She’s logged 11 shots with seven on goal.

WEST CHESTER — Freshman forward Carlee Freeburg (Clearfield) saw action as a reserve in Clarion’s 1-0 loss to No. 12-ranked West Chester in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference game Saturday.
The Golden Eagles, who were beaten by No. 6-ranked East Stroudsburg at home on Wednesday, Oct. 8, are 3-8-1, all against PSAC opposition.
Freeburg has attempted five shots, one on goal, in 11 games.

ERIE — Freshman midfielder McKenna Aleksivich (Clearfield) made her second start for Penn State Behrend in a 3-1 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference loss to Pitt-Bradford at Behrend Field on Wednesday, Oct. 8.
She and freshman defender Katie Powers (Clearfield) made appearances Saturday when the Lions (9-4-1, 3-2 AMCC) rebounded to blank La Roche 4-0 at Pittsburgh.
Aleksivich has played in 13 games with one shot on goal, while Powers has played in five.
