Ronald Chakan, 71, of Munson died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014 at his residence. Born Feb. 27, 1943 in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late Joseph Chakan and Ida Neff Chakan Burge.
Mr. Chakan was a kind and generous man who deeply loved his family. He really enjoyed chatting with his brothers-in-law and getting close to his Lord through reading the Bible and prayer.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He had worked for the former General Cigar Factory, Philipsburg, and also as a machinist for Williams Tool Company, Buffalo, NY.
He’s survived by his brothers and sisters, Donald Chakan of Clearfield, Shirley Houdeshell of Munson, Doris Stover of Potters Mill, Nancy Etzweiler of Munson, Judy Bruno of Drifting and Donna Burge of California and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob and Wayne Burge.
A public memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Messiah Baptist Church, Lanse, with the Pastor Earl R. Shawley officiating. Burial will be private.
There will not be any public visitation.
