ALTOONA – Sheetz announced today it will close the store located at 700 Potomac Ave. in Hagerstown, Md., on Sept. 30. Store associates from this location will be retained and relocated to one of the other eight existing stores in the Hagerstown area.
“While the decision to close a store is never easy,” says Chief Executive Officer Joe Sheetz, “we are continually assessing the performance of our store locations and customer’s needs.
“As a result of these reviews, we made the decision to close our store on Potomac Avenue. As we continue to focus our business on food and beverage growth, we evaluate our existing stores on their overall brand presence, physical capabilities and potential to accommodate our future business needs.
“This closing is consistent with our plan of utilizing our resources in our most productive locations.”
Sheetz will eagerly continue to serve the Hagerstown community with its eight remaining stores in the area, the store located at 301 E. Washington St., Hagerstown, Md., being the closest to the closed location.
The company is on track to open 28 new stores in 2014. In 2015, Sheetz expects to open an additional 30 more stores.
