James P. Vogel, 73, of Clearfield died Monday, Sept. 15, 2014 at the UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born Jan. 19, 1941 in Houtzdale, a son of the late Earl and Elizabeth (Ruffner) Vogel.
Mr. Vogel retired in 2003 from J.G. Food Warehouse, Clearfield, as a meat cutter after 20 years of service.
He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale.
He was also a member of the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post No. 6 and the Clearfield Loyal Order of the Moose No. 97. Mr. Vogel served his country with the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret J. (Faust) Vogel, whom he wed Oct. 31, 1964 in Houtzdale; three children, James Vogel Jr. and his wife, Terri of Houtzdale, Edward Vogel and his wife, Terri of Grampian and Margaret ‘Peg’ Barnes and Scott of Clearfield; and 10 grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Greenaway and Margaret Gray and two brothers, Robert and John Vogel.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield. Burial will follow in the Brisbin I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 26 S. Second St., Clearfield.
