CLEARFIELD – Taste of Home has released its recipe demonstration list for its fall cooking school on Sept. 20 at the Expo II Building at the Clearfield County Fairgrounds.
Recipes to be prepared are “Soft Beer Pretzels,” “Honey Five-Spiced Chicken Thighs,” “Baked Shepherd’s Casserole,” “Johnsonville Sausage Balls,” “Maple Toast & Eggs,” “Santa Fe Spinach Dip,” “Chicken Marsala Lasagna,” “Grilled Cheese & Bacon Stuffed Acorn Squash,” “Chicken & Mushroom Spanakopitas” and “Gingerbread Cheesecake.”
Recipes will be prepared at the Clearfield cooking school by Taste of Home culinary expert, Chef Char Morse.
Morse grew up in a Midwest farming community and has always had a passion for cooking with home-grown and farm-raised ingredients. She believes fresh is best for cooking and there is nothing like a slow-cooked meal.
However, as a busy mom, Morse realizes that sometimes ingredients from a box or a jar can help speed along a recipe when a full schedule dominates over kitchen time. She enjoys her travels with the Taste of Home Cooking School and loves to put together tasty dishes on stage in different towns across the nation.
Morse’s favorite place to cook is back home in the kitchen on her hobby farm in Whitehall, Mich. It’s there that she prepares pre-game meals and post-practice dinners for her sons who play football for the Whitehall Vikings.
Morse received her training in culinary arts at the Culinary Institute of Michigan, in addition to two Bachelor of Science degrees in applied biology and biotechnology from Ferris State University.
When she is not cooking and performing for the Taste of Home Cooking Schools, Morse can be seen making recipes for a live television segment on an ABC-affiliate station in Grand Rapids, Mich. or she can be found among food scientists in the product development labs of a well-known baby food company.
Morse believes that the greatest cooks utilize and incorporate a little science, a little art and a lot of love into each dish.
