STATE COLLEGE – Highway safety representatives collected unsafe car seats yesterday at Chick-Fil-A in State College during a Car Seat Round-up.

The seats were collected and destroyed to prevent future use. The event was held in advance of National Child Passenger Safety Week, Sept. 14-20.

From left, Dawn Roussey, safety press officer for PennDOT District 2, and Kelly Whitaker, north central regional coordinator with the PA Traffic Injury Prevention Project, accepted seats that were old or had been recalled.

Generally, a child passenger seat expires when it is at least 6 years old. To find out more about child passenger safety or to locate a child seat inspection near you, visit www.pakidstravelsafe.org.

A child seat check will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Colonnade Parking Lot in State College as part of the Patton Township Children’s Safety Fair.
