CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Revitalization Corp. (CRC) has named Loretta Wagner as its Main Street manager, according to CRC President Katie Penoyer.
“With enthusiasm and confidence, we would like to welcome Loretta as our manager. Her work ethic and dedication will provide an invaluable resource to the CRC and the town of Clearfield,” stated Penoyer.
“We had such a strong pool of applicants, which was very encouraging. We are so pleased to have been given the opportunity to bring in someone with Loretta’s excitement and energy.”
Wagner has been a life-long resident of Clearfield. She has volunteered with several organizations, including the Mountain Laurel Auxiliary, Clearfield Youth Baseball and the Girl Scouts of America.
“I grew up in Clearfield,” stated Wagner, “and have enjoyed raising my family in an All-America rural community. I was very excited to be hired as the Main Street manager of Clearfield.
“I love that I will be a part of the community efforts to make sure that this community is secure for my family and other families in the future.”
For the past four years, the CRC has awarded more than $130,000 to downtown businesses for façade improvement. The momentum of the organization has increased over the years, stated Penoyer.
She added that events, such as the Clearfield Fall Festival and the Bloom and Berry Bash, as well as the administration of a streetscape grant from the state Department of Community & Economic Development (DCED) have enhanced the image of the downtown.
“The changes we have seen in our town over recent years either initiated directly by the CRC, or as a result of an overall re-energizing and excitement of the people who live and work here are truly amazing,” she stated.
Penoyer pointed out that the four committees of the organization are charged with initiating, organizing and executing events and ideas that have to do with many facets of revitalization. These include business recruitment, educational workshops and secret shopper programs, in addition to downtown events and façade improvements.
The next scheduled event is the Fall Festival and Pumpkin Run 5K, which will take place on Oct. 11 in downtown Clearfield. In addition to the 5k slated for the morning, there will be food vendors, live entertainment, an antique car show, activities and games for children, a historical hayride and much more.
“We are really excited to involve our newly-formed youth council with the festival this year. They are truly an awesome group of young people and engaging them in this way will prove to be a win-win for the kids and the town,” stated Penoyer.
She added, “Giving our youth a sense of inclusion and purpose can prove to solidify a life-long commitment to ensuring our town is a great place to live, work and be.”
