Violet M. Phillips, 73, of DuBois died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014 at Christ the King Manor.
Born April 11, 1941, she was the daughter of Anthony and Mary (Kawa) Poskanka.
On May 12, 1962, she married Richard L. Phillips. He survives.
Mr. Phillips was a homemaker. She was a member of the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.
She enjoyed going for walks with her husband and spending time with her grandchildren, and gardening. She also enjoyed shopping with her niece, Nancy Chapman
She’s survived by her children, Robert Phillips of Falls Creek, Karen Myers and her husband, Craig of Winchester, Va., and Susan Christensen and her husband, Todd of Culpeper, Va.
She’s survived by five sisters, Angeline Cheslock, Rose Rokoski and Catherine Michael, all of DuBois, Martha Michael of Harrisburg and Mary Michael of Philadelphia; three grandchildren, C.J. and Lauren Myers and Dylan Christensen; two step-grandchildren, Jordan and Joshua Christensen; and one great-grandchild, Jaxon Myers.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Gillis and Ann Cheslock.
There will be no public visitation.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Daniel Kresinski as celebrant.
Burial will be in the St. Michael’s Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.
