LHU head football coach John Allen announced that junior Beau Swales (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield) will be the starting running back heading into the 2014 season.
Allen is excited for Swales and looks for him to have a big season.
“Beau brings a physical-presence to the position that we haven’t seen in a while,” said Allen. “He has the speed of Brandon Brader, but adds true power to the run game.”
“He has become an all-around back learning from Brader the last couple seasons. Beau is also a tremendous competitor, which we saw from day one during his recruitment from Clearfield High School.”
Swales saw limited action out of the backfield last season, but made the most of his opportunities. Swales played in all 11 games, carrying the ball 29 times for 90 yards and a touchdown.
He led LHU last season with 594 yards on kick returns, while averaging 22.8 per return.
Swales played in all 11 games as a true-freshman in 2011.
