PASCO, Wash. — Chad Zurat (Clearfield) turned in his first scoreless stint in nine relief appearances for the Tri-City Dust Devils of the Class A Short Season Northwest League Monday night.
The right-hander kept the hard-hitting Hillsboro Hops off the scoreboard in the final two frames of an 8-1 loss in Gesa Stadium that dropped the Dust Devils into a tie for first place with Vancouver at 15-16 in the North Division’s second-half race.
Zurat struck out two and gave up three hits to the Hops, who own a three-game cushion in the South Division at 21-10 after the opener of a five-game series.
In 19 innings, Zurat has allowed 33 hits and 21 runs, 19 earned, with 16 strikeouts, five walks and two hit batsman. His earned run average is 9.00.
