John R. Butler, 86, of Clearfield died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014 at Clearfield Penn Highlands. He was the husband of 54 years to the late Maude E. (Smeal) Butler, whom died May 5, 2009.
Born Jan. 12, 1928, he was the son of the late Robert E. and Zella (Brewer) Butler.
Mr. Butler was a graduate of the Clearfield Area High School in the class of 1946. He then attended Penn State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 1950.
He was the owner and operator of Commercial Printing in Clearfield for 55 years until 2005. He was a member of the Rotary Club, Clearfield F&AM, Clearfield B.P.O. Elks Lodge, No. 540, and the Clearfield Eagles.
Surviving are one son and two daughters, Patty Butler, Donna L. Hurley and her husband, Randy and Mike Butler and one grandson, Nathan Unch, all of Clearfield.
Mr. Butler was the last of his generation. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents and three brothers and one sister, Bill Butler, Gerald Butler, Betty Jay and Eddie Butler.
A time to share memories and have an opportunity to view will be held from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc., Clearfield.
Burial will be made in the Crown Crest Memorial Park. It will be private and at the convenience of the family.
