CLEARFIELD – Funding from Act 89, the state’s new transportation plan, is making roadway improvement work in Clearfield, Elk and Cameron counties possible. Work to improve various routes in the three counties will begin Monday.
Starting next week, crews will work on Route 2003 (Toby Road) in Elk County from Kersey to Toby to extend the useful life of the pavement and improve the ride quality of the roadway surface. Work will include milling, scratch and resurfacing.
Once work on Route 2003 is complete, crews will move to Route 120 in Cameron from the Route 155 intersection in Emporium and extending about two miles east toward the village of Cameron. Before the end of the year, work will also take place on Routes 1003 and 1007 in Elk County and Routes 153 and 1004 in Clearfield County.
Drivers should expect short travel delays as flaggers enforce an alternating traffic pattern through the work zone. Work will take place during daylight hours. All work is weather and schedule dependent.
HRI Inc. of State College is the general contractor on the $5.9 million project to improve the road surface of 12 routes in Clearfield, Elk and Cameron counties.
Funding provided by Act 89 is enabling PennDOT to make significant progress in addressing major roadway and bridge needs across the region, including projects starting this year to resurface 175 miles of rough pavement and rehabilitate 24 deteriorated bridges in the nine-county area including Cameron, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk, Juniata, McKean, Mifflin and Potter counties.
Drivers are reminded to be cautious in all work zones, obey posted speed limits, and always buckle up.
