CLEARFIELD – A former Hyde man charged with selling drugs was sentenced to state prison during plea and sentencing court in Clearfield County.
Darrell L. Taylor, 24, an inmate of the jail, pleaded guilty to two counts of delivery of a controlled substance, criminal use of communication facility and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was sentenced by President Judge Fredric J. Ammerman to nine months to two years in state prison. He must also complete drug and alcohol counseling. He was fined $4 plus costs.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, an undercover officer received information from an informant that Taylor had klonopin, Vicodin and LSD to sell. They arranged to purchase four vicodin pills and two hits of LSD from him.
On Feb. 15, 2013, the undercover officer and the informant met Taylor outside the DuBois Creamery in DuBois where Taylor was working. Once there the informant contacted Taylor by phone and he responded.
A few minutes later, they saw Taylor walking from the rear of the building. He approached their vehicle and spoke with them through the window. He asked if they still wanted the “stuff”.”
After they said yes, he showed them a cigarette cellophane wrapper and said that he threw in two “hits” of LSD for free. Taylor dropped the wrapper into the vehicle into the handle of the passenger side door.
The officer then handed Taylor $48, the agreed price. Taylor took the money and walked back to work.
