CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. has announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.
Shaw identified the fugitive as Brandon Ryan Runyon, 19, of West Weber Avenue, DuBois. Runyon was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on Aug. 4.
On Oct. 8, 2013, Officer Matthew Robertson of the DuBois City police filed a criminal complaint against Runyon. He charged him with theft from a motor vehicle; possession of a small amount of marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Sept. 22, 2013, police were dispatched to the area of West Long Avenue and High Street for the report of two individuals rummaging around in vehicles. Upon investigation it was found that Runyon and another individual had unlawfully removed items from two, separate vehicles. Runyon was also found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and a glass smoking pipe.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Nov. 15, 2013, at which time all charges were held for court. On July 22, Runyon failed to appear for plea and sentencing court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Shaw stated that an anonymous tip to the Clearfield County Crime Stoppers provided the location of Runyon. On Aug. 9, officers from the Brockway Borough Police Department apprehended Runyon at a residence in Brockway.
Runyon was taken into custody without incident. He’s currently lodged in the Clearfield County Jail.
Shaw thanked the Brockway Borough Police Department for their assistance with this case.
