William A. “Bill” Stadtmiller, 70, of Curwensville died Sunday, July 27, 2014 at his residence after a lengthy illness. Born Oct. 21, 1943 in Shawnee, Okla., he was the son of William A. and Jane Catherine (McNaul) Stadtmiller.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served during the Vietnam War.
He received a Doctorate of Chiropractic degree from the Palmer Chiropractic School in Davenport, Iowa. He also received a Bachelor of Science degree from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
He was a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, where he retired after 25 years of service. He was a member of the St. Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Clearfield chapter. He served as a faithful navigator for the Fourth Degree Knights.
He was a former member of the Curwensville American Legion Post No. 505 and the Curwensville VFW Post No. 842. He was a charter member of the Clearfield Model Railroad Club and was an avid golfer.
On June 18, 1977 at St. Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville, he wed Lois Ann McGee, who survives, along with two daughters, Michelle Nutt and her husband, S. Allen of Hanover and Sharon Stadtmiller of Curwensville and her fiancé, Jason Vogel of Altoona.
He’s also survived by his grandsons, Andrew Scott and Ethan Michael Nutt, both of Hanover; a brother, Dr. Richard Stadtmiller of Morgantown, W.Va.; and a sister, Rebecca Anderson of Curwensville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a step-mother, Betty Mallon Stadtmiller.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday with Father Mark Mastrian as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park in Hyde.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville and from 9 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
The rosary will be said at 3 p.m. and a scripture vigil service will be held at 8 p.m., both Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Father McKee Scholarship Fund, in care of St. Timothy’s Church, 306 Walnut St., Curwensville, PA 16833.
