PASCO, Wash. — Chad Zurat (Clearfield) made his second appearance for the Tri-City Sun Devils Saturday night with mixed results in a 12-2 loss to the Vancouver Canadians in Northwest League action that attracted 2,784 fans into steamy Gesa Stadium.
The Colorado Rockies farm team in the Class A Short Season Leagule already was down 5-0 when the right-hander relieved in the fifth inning with a runner at third base and two outs.
He surrendered a run-scoring hit but then retired seven of the next batters he faced, striking out one.
However, Zurat couldn’t record an out in the eighth as the first four Canadians singled. He departed with one run in and the bases full.
All three of those runners scored, too, giving Zurat a stat line of six hits and four earned runs allowed in 2-1/3 innings of pitching with temperatures in the low 90s.
He has worked a total of 5-1/3 innings and allowed 13 hits and eight runs, seven earned, with four strikeouts and no walks.
