CLEARFIELD – Two bridges that are part of a PennDOT Clearfield County rehabilitation project will see two-way traffic restored by the end of the day.
The first bridge spans White Side Run on Route 153, about two miles south of Houtzdale. The second bridge spans Little Muddy Run on Route 253 near the village of Allemans in southern Clearfield County.
With repairs complete, PennDOT will remove them from Clearfield County’s list of structurally deficient bridges and area drivers will enjoy safer travel on bridges that will remain in service for years to come.
Temporary traffic signals have been enforcing alternating traffic patterns on each bridge since May. Those signals will be removed by the end of the day, and two-way traffic will be restored.
The bridges are two of five structures on a $1.8 million bridge preservation contract. The other bridges included two on Route 255 southwest of Penfield, spanning Bennett Branch and Heath Run and one on Route 729 bridge near Kerrmor.
Swank Construction Company of New Kensington has been the contractor on this project. Overall work included substructure and superstructure repairs, new guide rail and paving.
