BROOKVILLE (EYT) –The family of a missing woman who jumped out of a moving car along Interstate 80 near Brookville says new clues indicate she may have hitchhiked.
Yesterday, the family brought out a fresh dog team to the Jefferson County barn where 37-year-old Susan Bachman, of Centre County, discarded her cell phone and wallet. From that location, the trailing dog tracked her path to Route 28.
It appears Bachman may have hitched a ride and left the area, heading southwest on Route 28, according to the family.
On Friday, July 4, around 8:30 am, Bachman jumped out of a car near mile marker 77 on I-80 west. Authorities say the car was travelling approximately 65 miles per hour. She survived the bail-out and disappeared into the woods next to the highway.
The family asks that anyone who gave a ride to a hitchhiker fitting Bachman’s description on Route 322 or Route 28 in Jefferson County or Clarion County in the days after July 4 to contact the Pennsylvania State Police at 814-371-4652.
