Mary Ellen Oswalt, 90, of Curwensville died Monday, July 7, 2014 at Ridgeview Elder Care Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Curwensville.
Born April 11, 1924 in McCartney, she was the daughter of James and Helen Margaret (Freeman) Hamilton.
Mrs. Oswalt was a seamstress and had worked for McGregor’s Sportswear. She later retired from Kent’s Sportswear in Curwensville. She was Pentecostal by faith.
She wed Clair W. Oswalt, who preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, James Jr., John, George and Clifford Hamilton and two sisters, Ella Hamilton and Lillian Cutting.
Surviving are five children, Patricia McCrary and her husband, Wilmont of Sebring, Fla., James Oswalt and his wife, Carol of DuBois, Judy Johnston and her husband, Brian of Curwensville and twins Lilly Fink and her husband, Harry of Curwensville and Larry Oswalt and his wife, Beverly of Clearfield.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, and a sister, Grace Lippert of Clearfield.
Funeral services for Mrs. Oswalt will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville with the Rev. Wilmont McCrary officiating. Burial will be in the Fruit Hill Cemetery, Ansonville.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. Friday until time of services at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
