HIGHLAND TOWNSHIP – A 67-year-old Anmoore, W. Va. man, Glenn W. Grogg, was killed in a single-vehicle accident Thursday on state Route 66 in Highland Township, reported the state police at Ridgway.
Mary V. Grogg, 73, also of Anmoore, W. Va., was traveling northbound when she fell asleep. Her vehicle subsequently exited the roadway and struck a tree head-on, state police said.
Glenn Grogg was pronounced dead at the scene by Elk County Coroner Michelle Muccio. Mary Grogg was flown to the Hamot Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries, state police said.
Both Mary and Glenn Grogg were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident. State police were assisted at the scene by Kane Ambulance Service and the Highland Township and Marienville fire departments.
