CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. has announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.
Shaw identified the fugitive as Richard Allen Supenia, 50, of Pine Run Road, Madera. Supenia was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on Monday.
On March 12, Trooper Joshua Lawrence of the Clearfield-based state police filed a criminal complaint against Supenia. He charged Supenia with resisting arrest; possession of a small amount of marijuana; use or possession of drug paraphernalia; criminal trespass; harassment; disorderly conduct; and required financial responsibility.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on March 8, state police were dispatched to a residence located on Shoff Lane in Bigler Township. Further, a male was allegedly trespassing on the property.
Upon investigation it was found that Supenia had arrived at the property and grabbed the victim by the throat and kicked him twice. Supenia fled the scene when witnesses contacted state police.
After Supenia was located, troopers attempted to take him into custody. However, he resisted and attempted to keep his wrists from being handcuffed.
Supenia was eventually handcuffed and taken into custody. A search revealed Supenia was in possession of a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for April 30, at which time Supenia failed to appear.
A warrant was issued for his arrest.
Shaw stated that an anonymous tip to the Clearfield County Crime Stoppers provided the location of Supenia. On Tuesday, deputies from the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Supenia in Altoona, and he was taken into custody without incident. Supenia is currently lodged in the Clearfield County Jail.
Shaw thanked the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office for its assistance with this case.
