Joseph R. Sheposh, 88, of Coalport died Friday, June 27, 2014 at his residence.
He was born March 21, 1926 in Flinton, the son of James Sheposh and Mary (Totko) Sheposh. He was a member of the Curwensville Rescue Hose & Ladder Club, Curwensville.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked as a coal miner for Barns & Tucker at Mine 20.
Surviving are a son, Dennis Sheposh of Evansville, Ind.; a son, Daniel Sheposh of Nobelsville, Ind.; a daughter, Deborah Gallaher of Coalport; a daughter, Denise Hattabaugh of Greenwood, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Lucille Miles; his brothers, John, Andrew and James Sheposh; and his sisters, Mary Waluska, Ann Olexy, Helen Woods and Pauline Riccardi. He was the last member of his immediate family.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Monday and from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Lloyd-Dimmick Funeral Home Inc., Irvona.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Lloyd-Dimmick Funeral Home Inc., Irvona, with the Rev. Tom McGill officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, LaJose.
The Coalport VFW Post No. 7043 will have a veteran’s service at the funeral on Tuesday.
