WINSLOW TOWNSHIP – A 27-year-old Falls Creek man, Mark A. Ferko, was killed in a single-vehicle accident Sunday on the Reynoldsville-Falls Creek Road in Winslow Township, reported the state police at DuBois.
Ferko was traveling northbound in the right-hand lane and negotiating a slight left-hand curve. For unknown reasons, his vehicle started rotating clockwise and crossing the white fog line and north shoulder.
The Ferko vehicle continued traveling north down an embankment and crossed a drainage ditch. It then impacted the side of the ditch with its left, front end area. At that point, it became airborne and impacted a large tree, according to state police.
Ferko was ejected from the vehicle through the front driver’s side window. He was thrown approximately 30 feet north. The Ferko vehicle rotated approximately 180 degrees and impacted a tree before coming to a rest, state police said.
State police were assisted at the scene by the Reynoldsville Ambulance and the Reynoldsville Fire Department.
