P. John Navarra, 86, of DuBois died Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Christ the King Manor.
Born May 3, 1928, he was the son of the late Anthony and Albina (Fioravanti) Navarra.
On June 9, 1973, he married Dorothy (Baloniak) Hoskavich Navarra. She survives.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after more than 28 years of service as a letter carrier.
He was a graduate of the St. Catherine High School and the Pennsylvania State University. He enjoyed gardening, especially flowers and was an avid Penn state and Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
He’s survived by his step-son, Gary Hoskavich and his wife, Elizabeth of DuBois and three step-daughters, Linda Beer and her husband, William of Greensburg and Janet Hoskavich and Theresa Stoey, both of DuBois; eight step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Guido Navarra and his sister, Olga Navarra.
Friends will be received from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Sunday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home Inc.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Erickson officiating.
Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the St. Catherine Cemetery.
