CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. has announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.
Shaw identified the fugitive as Joseph Alan Olewinski, 48, of Lincoln Street, Ridgway. Olewinski was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on May 27.
On June 27, 2013, Trooper John Eisman of the Pennsylvania State Police, DuBois barracks, filed a criminal complaint against Olewinski. He charged Olewinski with possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, prohibited offensive weapons and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Aug. 11, 2011, state police received information from a confidential informant about Olewinski selling heroin out of his residence located on East Washington Avenue in DuBois City. The CI also relayed that Olewinski was in possession of a few bundles of heroin and some marijuana.
Eisman applied for and received authorization to execute a search warrant at Olewinski’s residence. Upon executing the search warrant, state police located and seized: $1,016 in U.S. currency, two bags containing marijuana, a blue plastic container containing marijuana, 21 blue wax packets containing heroin, 12 blue wax packets containing heroin residue, a glass smoking pipe, brass knuckles and a digital weigh scale.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for April 11, at which time all charges were held for court. On May 22, Olewinski failed to appear for pre-trial conferences, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Shaw stated that on Saturday, Ridgway Borough police apprehended Olewinski at a residence on Hospital Street, Ridgway. He was taken into custody without incident and is currently lodged in the Clearfield County Jail.
Shaw thanked the Ridgway Borough police for their assistance with this case.
