On May 21-22, the Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh hosted various community leaders from the Curwensville area at its kick off training session at the Capitol Rotunda in Harrisburg.
The FHL Bank of Pittsburgh is a wholesale bank that serves the housing finance and community and economic development needs of its owner members. Northwest Savings Bank of Curwensville is one member that is represented in support of the 2014 Curwensville Blueprint Communities Initiative.
The Blueprint Communities Initiative is serving the Curwensville and Grampian Boroughs and the Bloom, Penn and Pike Township areas. Â Northwest Savings Bank Vice President, Eric Johnson, said he “looks forward to the team’s results” as it moves forward.
Now under way, members of the Curwensville Blueprint Team will reach out to community members to learn about their perceptions of the community and its offerings. Â Team members have also planned an “open house” with fellow local leadership.
Participating in the open house will be State Rep. Tommy Sankey, Clearfield County Commissioners Mark B. McCracken, Joan Robinson-McMillen and John A. Sobel and Curwensville area municipal leaders.
There will also be representatives from the Clearfield County Economic & Development Corp., Clearfield County Conservation District,   Clearfield County Recreation & Tourism Authority, Clearfield Vision 2020, Clearfield Chamber of Commerce, Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging, Central Pennsylvania Community Action, Clearfield County Planning, Clearfield Revitalization Corp., Curwensville Development Corp., Anderson Creek Watershed Association, Bilger’s Rocks Association, Curwensville Area School District, Northwest Savings Bank, Curwensville Merchants Association and Curwensville Community Center.
Members of the community are invited to participate at 7 p.m. June 18 at the Curwensville Community Center to hear more about the Blueprint Communities Initiative and its impact as a catalyst in fostering strong local leadership, collaboration and development capacity, revitalization based upon sound local and regional planning that includes a clear vision for the community and a comprehensive implementation strategy, and to encourage coordinated investments in targeted communities by public and private funders.
