Betty W. (Brothers) Tobias, 91, of Madera died Friday, May 30, 2014 at Penn Highlands Clearfield.
She was born July 3, 1922, in Barnesboro, a daughter of the late Charles M. and Goldie (Rice) Brothers.
She was a member of the Fruit Hill Presbyterian Church, where she a former treasurer of the Mountain Top Larger Parish for 30 years. She worked as a registered nurse for 25 years and was bookkeeper and co-owner of Tobias Garage in Erhard.
She was a former member of the Clearfield Chapter of the Eastern Star, a 1940 graduate of the Cherry Tree High School and 1943 graduate of the Clearfield Hospital School of Nursing.
On Nov. 22, 1945, in Cleveland, Ohio, she married Clifford L. Tobias. He preceded her in death on March 26, 2013.
She’s survived by two sisters and three brothers, Mildred Hoffower of Emporium; C. William Brothers (Nancy) of Mifflintown; Robert Brothers of Madera; Dorothy Olson of Junction City, Kansas and Sam Brothers (Jane) of Westover. She’s also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant sister.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. – 12 12 p.m. Tuesday at the Kruise Funeral Home Inc., Madera.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday at the Kruise Funeral Home Inc., Madera, with Commissioned Lay Pastor Leanne M. Gill Peters officiating.
Burial will be in the Fruit Hill Cemetery, Ansonville.
