Catherine E. Coder, 96, of Clearfield died Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at her home.
She was born Oct. 7, 1917 in McGees Mills, a daughter of the late Harry and Alverta (Macinich) Sharp.
Mrs. Coder was a homemaker. She was an active member and very dedicated to the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Clearfield.
She is survived by her four children, Pearl Russell of Grampian, Kay Strishock of Brockway, Sylvia Knepp and her husband, Leo of Woodland and Kenneth V. Coder and his wife, Charlene of Clearfield; 26 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-granddaughter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest V. Coder, on July 3, 1987; a son, James R. Coder; an infant son, Ernest Coder; a daughter, Florence Haag; four sisters, Mable McFarland, Jesse Smith, Martha Grace and Florence Saylor; and six brothers, Alvin, John, David and Harry Sharp and James and Frank Kougher.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Clearfield, with Dr. Duane A. White officiating. Burial will follow in the Owens Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 45 Alliance Rd., Clearfield, or to the Kerr Addition United Methodist Church, in care of Joyce Miller, 9679 Old Erie Pike, Clearfield, PA 16830.
