Violet Evelyn Lord, 103, of Mahaffey and formerly of Curwensville, died Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the home of her daughter Marjorie Miller with whom she had made her home with for the past 15 years.
Born Nov. 30, 1910 in Bloomington, Pike Township, she was the daughter of Bennett and Viola (Bressler) Wilt. Mrs. Lord was a licensed practical nurse and had done private duty nursing for more than 20 years.
She was a member of the Faith Bible Church in Lumber City, where she was a member of the adult Sunday school class.
On April 26, 1926 in Bloomington, she wed Albert Wade Lord, who preceded her in death on June 3, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents; five sons, Wade, Bennett, Jack, Donald, and Gene Lord; three sisters Jane Gray, Edith Shaffer and Laura Hawk; and six brothers, Marvel, James, Thomas, Robert, Russell and Murrell Wilt. She was the last member of her generation.
Surviving are a son, William Lord and his wife, Doris of Glen Richey and a daughter, Marjorie Miller and her husband, Jackson of Mahaffey. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.
Services for Mrs., Lord will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville, with the Rev. Scott Schultz officiating. Burial will be in the Bloomington Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. Wednesday until time of services at the funeral home.
