David Leroy Courson, 79, of DuBois, died Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Born March 22, 1935, he was the son of the late John F. and Mary (Gelnett) Courson.
He was a 1953 graduate of the DuBois Area High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
He was a steel worker in New York for many years. He was a member of the Sykesville American Legion.
He is survived by his children, Esther Courson and Calvin Courson, both of Buffalo, NY; Natasha Courson of DuBois; and Tammy Phillips of Lakawanna, NY and three sisters, Rosella Wiles of Falls Creek, Jane Handgardner of West Seneca, NY and Della Solida of DuBois.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda and four brothers, John, Bill and Paul Courson and Bruce Gelnett.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. Thursday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home with Pastor Lance Tucker officiating.
Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the Jefferson County Honor Guard at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
