DUBOIS – Clearfield County Crime Stoppers is seeking information about a 2011 armed robbery at Shankel’s Pharmacy, located on West Long Avenue, in DuBois, according to District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr.
Shaw stated that at approximately 9:35 a.m. Oct. 17, 2011, the DuBois City and Sandy Township police responded to an armed robbery at Shankel’s Pharmacy. The suspect was described as a Caucasian male who stood 5 feet, 10 inches to 6 feet tall.
The suspect, he stated, was in his middle to late 20?s. He was wearing a plain black hooded sweatshirt, jeans and a dark gray bandanna or mask. The suspect, he stated, was carrying a handgun that was described as a stainless steel revolver with a six- to eight-inch long barrel.
Upon entering Shankel’s Pharmacy, the suspect proceeded behind the counter and ordered everyone to the ground. He demanded prescription medication from one of the store’s employees. After the suspect obtained the prescription medication, he attempted to flee through the rear door of the building but could not find the exit, stated Shaw.
According to him, the suspect returned to the front area where he grabbed and pulled a female employee to the back of the store. He ordered her to unlock the door. The suspect then fled the store via the rear door toward Spruce Alley and in an unknown direction.
The suspect, he stated, obtained approximately $5,007.56 worth of prescription medication. The incident, he stated, remains under investigation by the DuBois City police.
Shaw stated that Clearfield County Crime Stoppers is seeking information about the armed robbery at Shankel’s Pharmacy. Shaw stated that Crime Stoppers has offered a reward of up to $1,000; Shankel’s Pharmacy has offered its own reward of up to $500 for information leading to the suspect’s arrest.
