Albert W. ‘Bill’ Hamm, 68, of Clearfield died Friday, May 9, 2014 at the Forbes Nursing and Rehab Center, Pittsburgh.
He was born July 1, 1945 in Clearfield, a son of the late George and Georgie (Graham) Hamm.
Mr. Hamm retired as a fork lift operator from Kurtz Bros., Clearfield, in 2004. One of his joys in life was coaching little league baseball, which he did for 23 years.
Mr. Hamm enjoyed watching Penn State sports and Professional Wrestling on television. However, his favorite sport to watch was hockey.
He also enjoyed time spent in the woods hunting and fishing and attending auctions. Along with his wife, they once raised various livestock and will be most remembered as being known as a gentle giant.
He was a member of West Side United Methodist Church, Clearfield. He was also a veteran of the armed forces, serving with the National Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Ateon) Hamm, whom he married on Nov. 19, 1966 in Clearfield and three sons, William Hamm, Randall Hamm and his wife, Paula and Scott Hamm, all of Clearfield.
He is survived by six grandchildren, Danica and Macey Hamm, Lindsey and Chad Hamm, Cory Hamm and Ally Hamm; three sisters, Constance Suprono and Pamela Stevens and her husband, Edward, both of Harrisburg, and Karen Musser and her husband, Douglas of Halifax; two brothers, David Hamm and Donald Hamm and his wife, Mona Hamm, both of Clearfield; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the West Side United Methodist Church, Clearfield, with the Rev. Dr. Joleen A. Willis officiating. Burial will be in the Eden Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, and from 10:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to West Side United Methodist Church, 317 Nichols St., Clearfield.
