Kathleen Mae Hugney, 92, of Frenchville died Sunday, May 4, 2014 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.
She was born June 2, 1921 in Clearfield, a daughter of the late Halford G. and Zella Mae (Bauman) Ogden.
Mrs. Hugney had been employed by the Curtis Wright Company, Quehanna, and for a meat packing plant in both the Allport Cutoff and Quehanna areas. She enjoyed tending the garden, sewing and crocheting.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Frenchville. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by three children, Barbara Hugney Shope and her husband, Robert of Clearfield, Stanley M. Hugney and his wife, Penny of Frenchville and Coleen M. Hugney of Florida; three grandchildren, Jacqueline M. Williams and her husband, Kenneth of Frenchville, Michelle M. O’Day-Manning and her companion, Marc Manning of Curwensville and Lori Knowles and her husband, Steve of Philipsburg; and two great-grandchildren, Ryann Knowles and MacKenzie Manning.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cornelius ‘Con’ A. Hugney on May 9, 1992 and whom she wed June 1, 1939 in Frenchville. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Nina Ogden and Mary Lee Ogden and a brother, Robert Ogden.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 11 a.m. Friday at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Frenchville, with the Rev. David A. Perry Jr. as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Frenchville.
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Thursday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library, 1 S. Front St., Clearfield or to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, P.O. Box 159, Frenchville.
