EMPORIUM – Employees of the Elk State Forest planted trees and shrubs again this spring.
Across the district, employees planted eastern white pine and red pine for wildlife cover and speckled alder and smooth alder for wildlife cover and food.
Lastly, black locust, quaking aspen, mixed oak and scrub oak were planted for a future food source for a variety of wildlife.
In addition, earlier this spring 40 apple trees, an assorted variety, were planted in for a future wildlife food source.
