CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Historical Society has officially announced the kick-off of its capital campaign to fund the William B. Alexander V Research Center.
The announcement coincides with the publishing of the society’s spring issue of “The Bulletin,” its bi-yearly magazine. The new Alexander Research Center will provide an up-to-date facility, which will house genealogical and historical records for the county.
“Hundreds of people, from across the nation and some foreign countries, visit the Clearfield County Historical Society to do family research,” said CCHS President Dennis Shaffner. “The society hopes this new facility will be something that all citizens of Clearfield County will view as a resource.
“The society’s museum, and the services it provides, is one of the faces of the county to many people from across Pennsylvania and the United States. With the opening of the new William B. Alexander V Research Center, space will be freed up in the society’s Kerr museum for more exhibits.”
The board of directors, he said, encourages everyone to help support the campaign, which is necessary to open the new center and to help with the continuing costs to keep it serving the public.
