State police at Clearfield
- A motorcyclist sustained moderate injuries after an accident Saturday on Walton Street in Decatur Township. The motorcyclist, John J. Griffies of Houtzdale, was traveling north when a vehicle operated by Jane B. Hollis of Philipsburg failed to yield to him. Hollis entered the roadway and into the path of Griffies’ motorcycle, causing a collision. Griffies sustained moderate injuries; he was wearing a helmet. Hollis wasn’t injured and her seatbelt was in use at the time of the accident. Hollis was also cited for the accident.
- An incident of burglary occurred sometime Monday or Tuesday on Linda Street in Houtzdale. During the incident, someone gained access to the residence through an unlocked window. The victim was not at home at the time but reported that her German Shepard/Collie mix dog was missing. She noted that nothing else appeared to be disturbed or missing. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the state police at Clearfield at 814-857-3800.
- No injuries were reported after a two-vehicle accident Tuesday on U.S. Route 322 in the area of the Sheetz store in Decatur Township. David Martell of Frenchville was traveling south in the Sheetz parking lot. At the time, Gary Crago of Philipsburg was traveling west on U.S. Route 322. Martell failed to stop before entering U.S. Route 322 and struck the Crago vehicle. Martell was cited for the accident. State police were assisted by the Philipsburg Fire Department.
- An incident of burglary/theft occurred Tuesday at Equine FX LLC in Decatur Township. During the incident, someone entered a barn and removed a red 2014 Polaris Ranger 800. It is valued at $15,000, state police said, adding the incident remains under investigation at this time.
State police at DuBois
- An incident of DUI occurred Sunday on U.S. Route 322 in Winslow Township. Further, a known 46-year-old Reynoldsville woman was stopped for a vehicle code violation and found to be under the influence of alcohol. She was placed under arrest for DUI and charges are currently pending.
- An incident of fleeing and eluding occurred April 20 on the Reynoldsville – Sykesville Road in Winslow Township. Further, state police attempted to stop a known male suspect for a traffic violation. However, he failed to stop and then led state police on a pursuit. Due to the terrain, state police terminated the pursuit; the suspect vehicle was recovered a short time later. State police determined the identity of the operator, and the incident remains under investigation at this time.
State police at Ridgway
- On Feb. 7, a known 50-year-old man attempted to purchase a firearm and provided false information on his application. His purchase was denied at the Elk County Ammo & Arms store in St. Marys. The incident remains under investigation at this time.
Clearfield Borough
- Police have initiated an investigation into a reported theft of medication. The medication, police said, was removed from an apartment along Reed Street.
- Police received a report about an incident of harassment from a Zimmerman Avenue resident.
- Police received a report about an incident of harassment from a Merrill Street resident.
- Police assisted state parole with attempting to take a male into custody who was wanted for a violation.
- Police handled an animal complaint along Woodland Road.
- Police received a report about an incident of criminal mischief that occurred at the cemetery.
- Police responded to Cemetery Road for someone revving the engine of a vehicle and causing a disturbance.
- The Clearfield Fire Department was dispatched to Capricorn Court for the activation of multiple smoke alarms. Upon investigation it was found to be a false alarm.
- A 19-year-old Clearfield man was charged with indecent assault against a person less than 16 years of age. The man was allegedly having inappropriate contact with a juvenile at a business on East Cherry Street.
Lawrence Township
- Police checked the welfare of an individual and found them to be OK.
- Police received a report about a minor accident that occurred on the Clearfield – Shawville Highway.
- Police received a report about child custody issues that were civil in nature.
- Police received a report about a 9-1-1 hang-up call on Nelson Road. Further, police learned that it was a child playing with the phone and accidentally dialing the number.
