DUBOIS – The DuBois-based state police stopped a commercial vehicle, which had a contaminated food load, Thursday on Interstate 80 near the exit 97 off-ramp.
State police stopped Ezekiel R. Groff, 19, of Derrick City for a marking violation. During the inspection, state police discovered a load of seafood, yogurt and dairy products wasn’t being kept at a food safe temperature.
Further, the food load was above the allowed shipping temperature. The food load was neither shipped in accordance with food shipping regulations nor recorded on the shipping paperwork, according to state police.
The food load, state police said, was seized for disposal. Groff and McKean Transport LLC of Derrick City were cited for several violations.
The incident remains under investigation at this time. State police were assisted by the state Department of Agriculture and the DuBois Motor Carrier Enforcement Team.
